The courtesy lights (in the sail panels) were working and just stopped. They do not work with either door open or when turned on be the light switch. My fuse panel doesn't have a fuse labeled for the dome lights but all fuses are good. I would like to remove the cover on the lights to see if they are getting power. Does anyone know how the covers come off? Do they just snap on and off?
The factory schematic I have shows an orange wire that provides power to the dome lights, the trunk light (?) and the clock if equipped. Using a test light I do have constant power to the clock wire and the trunk wire. I fixed a tail light wire in the trunk about the same time the dome lights stopped working. I appreciate any help , John

The small round sail panel light covers come off using a small slim fine flat screw driver. They are secured by 3 small tabs. Once off this exposes your bulb and the 2 screws for the housing.
You have to remember that Dome light circuitry is backward from the rest of the car. It is always hot, dome lights come on when they are grounded. When I first got my 65 the right rear dome was out. Problem was the right front door plunger was corroded so bad it was not making contact (ground) when either door was opened.

Just put your fingers on each side, squeeze (gently) and pull out.
Are you courtesy lights under the dash working?

Thanks for your help. I used a thin head screwdriver and was able to pop out each lens. The bulbs look good but I was not able to get a light on the test light. I'll have to try again tomorrow. John

The courtesy lights stopped working after I did some trunk harness wire testing and repair for a tail light problem and to find the backup wires that were not connected to the lights. I must have tugged on the harness and that caused a disconnect of the courtesy light wire connector in the trunk.
