I posted this question over at Classic Olds..no answer from them so I'll try here.
I was comparing a intake valve from a '65 400 A head to a intake I have from a '68 C head. The C head valve is just under 1/4 longer.
The question is, what did Olds change to accommodate the extra length?
Is the pad on the head where the rockers bolt down taller on the C head?
Has anyone out there ever put the later valves in the early head?

Keep in mind that the 65 motor had the 45 deg lifter bank angle and thus a different pushrod angle and length. Also, the machined seat location in the chamber may be slightly different.
