Can someone verify the 65 442 conv frame part number vs the cutlass conv frame part number. Going off of memory, I believe the 442 conv frame is 9780503. I know the cutlass p/n is 9777400 but not 100% on the 442 conv frame part number. friend of mine bought what he believes is a 65 442 conv and just trying to help him verify.

the last convertible frame I saw was just a boxed frame.
so no numbers would be needed
what are you saying BRO?
where convertible frames all boxed?

DO you have any additional picture of the bare frame? Friend is trying to determine the difference between the two different part numbers on the conv. He has the 7400 (ending part number) vs the 503 (ending part number). He thinks car was misrepresented or at least things aren't lining up. Frame, cowl tag, options etc. If you have more pictures of your frame I'll send you my email...thanks in advance

Why doesn't your friend send us more pics, dataplate, engine compartment and shots of the frame. Is it a Fremont car?

No Detroit car...cowl tag reads as a 442 (4V), but car frame reflects Cutlass Conv p/N vs 442. Also car has 4-speed, but no L on cowl plate. Also, 455, no 400 and the list goes on. Seller represented car as 442, with replaced motor. He's just trying to see if was misled, or if there is a reasonable explanation? I told him to check 442 side scoop holes and see if holes look factory or home drilled. Cars about 8-hours from me or I'd help go through it. He's says it has 3/8 fuel lines, upper link holes, boxed control arms and heavy duty sway bars. Problem is I don't remember if these were all standard on Cutlass conv vs 442 conv. He was looking for verifiable 442 conv frame he could compare his with. If anyone has some I'll pass his email along.

Thanks, he has the numbers between the two different frames. He's trying to determine if there is any visual difference. If OK with him/you I will PM his email to you so you two can talk directly. He's hoping to find someone with a bare frame.

Frame may have been swapped at some point. Vert frames are notorious for rusting out.

I have a 442 very, and I had a Cutlass vert that I recently scrapped. Visually the two frames look identical unless you know what to look for.

If this works here are my vert frame pictures, might not do him any good, they show as I went through repairing/ restoring it, FYI the front section from the box's forward is off a 442 post that I welded on. Not in any particular order. s495.photobucket.com/user/bubbasz1/slideshow/frame

Will a 66 vert frame work if you use a cross flow radiator. Anyone know?

Will a 66 vert frame work if you use a cross flow radiator. Anyone know? Maybe, if you can somehow fabricate a core support. And relocate the bumper brackets. And alter front bumper to accept the brackets. Etc.
