finally getting ready to put a new trunk floor in and was wondering if anyone has an opinion on the best source for the sheet metal or are they all pretty much the same quality...I will need to replace the drivers side and the middle section at least...other side has some rust but is not through anywhere...contemplating whether or not to just replace the whole floor... most vendors I have looked at you can buy what you need or the whole thing braces and all...I have a picture or two of the trunk floor in an earlier post under members rides if that makes a difference...anyway would appreciate any opinions...
Thanxs

thanks for the photos...looks good...did you do your own work?...talked to a guy this AM that is a welder, he is a friend of another friend...looks like he will be doing the welding for me...had thought that I would try doing it myself but this way it will get done in a timely fashion and this guy is experienced and so it will get done right...simi retired...just looking for odd jobs...
three piece is generally what I have seen although I see that OPGI has a one piece...kinda pricey...Fusicks three piece is $269.00 plus shipping and OPGI's one piece is $766.00...not sure if it would be a wash in the long run or not as with the one piece you would have less welding...just the perimeter as opposed to perimeter plus stitching the pieces together...just depends on the cost of the person doing the welding...
Anyone know if a trunk pan from a 67 442 would fit into a 65...one of the friends I mentioned above has one in good shape and said that i could have it...would save me the cost and might be better metal
thanx

I purchased my three piece pan and braces from Tamraz. At the time much better pricing for the same stuff. 7-8 years later still looks brand new.

I sort of thought that the 64thru 67 were the same and a number of vendors list the trunk pan that way...hopefully the 67 floor pan my friend has will work out and I can save the cost of a new one...will make some of the other patches the welder is going to do a little less painful, holes in inner door panels for speakers, holes in package tray and wheel houses and floors for roll bar... hopefully this will give me a boost and some renewed motivation to get moving on this thing...
need to bottle up some of RamZ's energy and sell it to us old farts...
anyway thanks to all for the replies

Trunk floors for 65 and 67 are different in jack storage area. See pics below. 67 says OLDS and has different features from 65. However my 65 is from Lansing and my 67 is from Framingham, so there is probably more to the story. 64 and 66 I have no info on. These are both original trunk floors.

the vendor replacement trunk pans appear to look more like the 67 Framingham built trunk pan except they don't say olds...for instance the one piece that OPGI shows that is listed for 64 thru 67 Cutlass...all else looks the same except I noted that on my original 65 (Fremont built car) trunk floor pan there is just a rubber plug in the center with removable panels on either side and the new replacement pans show large hole for removable panels in all three locations...no matter...my car won't be stock so if the trunk is slightly different than original so be it...as long as the one from the 67 donor fits I'll be happy...
again thanks for the replies

Get a good spot weld drill bit take the time to drill out the spot welds
The only issue you have is how are you going to remove it ? Pull body and do a one piece or cut down the middle and do two and weld ?
Any how it's not a bad job but drilling the spot welds sucks

the donor body is just a shell...no frame or running gear so getting to everything will be easier...this friend of mine has more tools than carter has little liver pills and he is an old hand at doing this sort of thing...so he will be showing me the ropes...not sure exactly what his plan of attack is just yet...hope to learn what that will be this weekend...need to take the car down to his shop first...gotta figure out how to get the car on his trailer as I had disassembled the front suspension for repaint and rebuild so no front clip, no front wheels thinking that I was going to do everything at my place...he and the welder would rather work in my friends shop...car is stripped inside and out...just need to figure out some sort of a dolly/caster system to put under the front and attach to the frame so I will be able to roll it up and winch it on the trailer with a come along...had thought about a trailer dolly but most I can find that are anywhere near affordable will only handle up to 600 pounds and I am thinking that there would be more weight than that...
Anybody have an idea on what to use or what it might weigh?
Thanks...

Any type of dolly can work but rolling up trailer ramps will be a pita my advise would be locate a used trailer axle u bolt it to the frame get one wider than the car
You can usually pic one up on Craigslist for 50 bucks or so from people replacing their old one lug pattern should be the same as the cutlass

sounds like a good idea...actually now that I think of it my friend and the welder both mentioned using a trailer axle...have to see what they come up with...thanks though for mentioning the axle i had forgotten about it
thanks again...will post some pics later...

Well spoke to my friend this passed weekend and he looked at the 67 shell he had and someone else apparently had cut out the center portion which is part of what I need and partially destroyed the driver's side piece also so guess that that route is out of the question...seems like this is always the case...must be written some where...so onto purchasing the pieces I need...will first check underneath and on top and cut out some of the rusty pan above to see if there is any damage to the braces and go from there...anything else I should be looking for??
he also said he had some large casters for a body dolly he bought that have large steel plates that would allow us to bolt to the frame...thinking that we could use all thread on all 4 corners of each caster plate and bolt to a metal plate on top of the frame basically sandwiching the frame between...I also have a piece of 4x6 that would span between the frame rails that we could put between the caster and frame rail and bolt through to give us a little added height...there is a hole in the front of the frame on each rail that could be used for and additional thru bold to keep the whole thing from slipping off???
anyway moving forward...Shane do you remember what trunk pan you sold to oldstata?
