So I just replaced the fan clutch on my AC-equipped car. There was a non-thermal clutch installed so I opted to upgrade to the Hayden 2705. However, the clearance between the fan clutch itself (not the fan) and the radiator is definitely no more than 1/4'' (maybe less). I also read that the Hayden 2765 has the "same overall diameter, bolt hole size and is just slightly shorter by .14 of an inch." Does anybody have any experience with the Hayden 2705 or the Hayden 2765? I'm leaning towards removing the 2705 and swapping it with the 2765. Thanks.

I'm looking to get a new fan clutch so looking forward to an answer. I know most of them are too deep and come too close to the radiator. A 1/4" is certainly too close.

I removed the Hayden 2705 and installed the Hayden 2765. They look almost identical except the 2765 is probably about 3/8" shorter. This presented a little more of a challenge fastening all four nuts, but the clearance now between the fan clutch and my radiator is much better. The 2765 also includes a sleeve that you need to use on the water pump side. I'll try to post some pics later of the clearance with the 2705 versus the 2765.

They are a bitch to get on and off because of the clearance behind the clutch to the mounting plate.

Here are the pics with the 2705 and the 2765 installed on an AC-equipped car.
