This may be a dumb question...but my turn signals seem to flash too fast. All of the light bulbs are good, so my next thought was a turn signal flasher (kind of the rounded looking device that usually has 2 male electrical connectors on it). However, I have had my head up underneath the dash near the fuse block and I don't see anything that even looks remotely like a turn signal flasher. 1) Does everybody's '65 turn signal flash "fast"? 2) Is there even a turn signal flasher underneath the dash? 3) Any recommendations? Thanks.

Would I be correct in looking for a conventional (circular) flasher up behind the dash? Is it easy to find and get to? Thanks!

The ones I have seen looked like the standard round or rectangle flasher assembly. The round was ribbon egg blue and the square was bronze colored. Doesn't mean the cars i had were all stock flasher units.

Mechanical flasher modules rely on current flow in the turn signal circuit to heat up the bimetallic strip that opens the circuit. Excessively fast flashing would mean that either there is excessive current draw in the turn signal circuit (possibly from dirty contacts) or the bimetallic strip is worn out and flexing too soon. Replacing the module is easy as a first step in troubleshooting.
Note that the new electronic flasher modules use a digital timing circuit instead of a bimetallic strip. This means that the flash rate is independent of current draw, which is why the electronic modules are needed for LED bulbs. You can use an electronic module with conventional bulbs also.

Thanks guys...found the flasher, replaced it, and all blinkers work as they should now.
