The previous owner of my '65 bypassed the heater core. I have the assembly manual and it appears rather simple to reroute the coolant lines in order to again have heat in the car. The assembly manual is pretty clear about a replacement part number for the hose coming from the water valve to the heater core...has anybody just used 5/8" heater hose for this? I was going to flush the core out with some distilled water before reconnecting it because I don't know how long it has been disconnected and I obviously didn't want to risk any foreign objects getting into the engine or the radiator. Any suggestions/techniques/concerns would be appreciated...please review the attached pdf. Thanks. Attachments:Heater Core.pdf (808.89 KB)

The heater core is likely bypassed because it leaks.

Long story...previous owner said that he was getting nuisance dummy light temp indications in the summer and he was concerned about overheating the engine. Someone recommended to him to bypass the heater core for more cooling (I disagree) and he added an aftermarket temp gauge. He said that he still would continue getting the nuisance dummy lights in the summer even though the temp gauge he installed never exceeded 190.

Top goes to water pump and bottom goes to engine block in the rear right by heater core.
