all done took her out nothing like running through the gears only bummer is I'm going to have to take it out and have tranny rebuilt it grinds in 4th & it howls when i let of the gas in 1st & 2nd what do you think that is i didn't know how it was going to run when i put it in so i thought i would just see what would happen now i know at least all the other components seem to work fine from the switch over ill run around with like this for a while then switch it out thanks again to everyone for there input & support

Are you sure it's properly full of fluid? Always check the simple stuff first. The grinding could be a bad synchro, the howling is a bearing most likely. But, both could be because it's low on fluid. These are very simple transmissions to rebuild, and a bearing and gasket set is very inexpensive. Even one synchro pack isn't that bad.

I agree i'm going to check fluid tomorrow when i put oil in it i was at a big angle since i don't have a lift i have acc to one so i'm going to check that tomorrow

also when i put it in i noticed the front shaft had some play i just assumed that was the norm i also opened it up and looked in there & installed new seals didn't know what i was looking at but it all the parts seam to be there
