I also have 323 posi gears everything i've read says thats fine what do you think its a driver not a race car How are you going to drive the car, realistically? Those gears will be great if you are planning on doing any highway driving. They won't be that great at all if you plan on any type of gear banging or taking it to the strip on occasion. I can tell you that while having 4:10 gears is super fun for off the line performance, they absolutely SUCK for distance driving of any type. I think gears in the 3:55 range gives the best of both worlds. To me, my opinion only, if you go with either 3:73 or 3:90, you might as well go all the way to 4:10. It bugs the crap out of me that if I want to take my 442 to my beach house I gave to trailer it. I'd much rather drive it there.

I'm building my 4 speed car now. I have a 308 and a 323 posi. I'm building a driver and I want to take it on the highway so 323's will be fine for me. No hole shots. I have another 65 442 with 411 chevy rear, Sucks gas and just Sucks on the highway. I had it out today and at 60 miles an hour I am up around 3200 to 3300 RPM. I felt likle I was standing still and every car passed me. You can use the following calculator to calculate RPM, Gear ratio, Tire size and speed. You need 3 pieces of information to figure the 4th. So you can put tire diameter, gear ratio and speed and it will calculkate the RPM's You can change the speeds and gears to get a good idea of what the engine will be turning. Yes the 411's are fun to 50 MPH. advanced-ev.com/Calculators/TireSize/index.html
