I need to buy a new heater core for non a/c. I would like to get better quality brass. Looks like all replacements are aluminum. Tried to buy one from the local parts store, but the tanks were not off-set and the brackets wouldn't fit. Anyone have suggestions for brass and/or proper fit?

Have you tried RockAuto? I haven't purchased anything for my 65 in awhile, but the last time I did they had a good selection of items from different vendors. There' salsa this place: www.thebrassworks.net/. Looking over their site, looks like they can make you one.

Thanks guys. Have you had any personal success with any of these ordering a core? The one I ordered locally is of the correct general dimensions but no tank offset on the sides to fit the retainers. Also, the inlet and outlet were too far apart. Photos on the various web sites are deceiving. AND they always caution the photo may not depict the actual item sent.

A friend got me one from O'Rielly's. All aluminum and not a good fit. As noted above, Super Cars Unlimited has the brass ones and they fit great.
