What have you guys done to install the side trim as the studs wear down and the speed nuts don't grab them ?
I am thinking of tring to build it up with jb weld
Also thinking of using 3m tape along it has any one done this ?

I've had this issue with the hood spear and hood lip. I sanded down the studs with emory cloth and then cut new threads with a smaller size speed nut. I have a great old fashion hardware store and I could try several until I found the right one.
You can also take the existing speed nut and flatten out the cutting edge to make it grip.

Not sure if sanding material off is a good idea with only three studs lol paranoid of it falling off I guess or breaking

You just want to knock the edges of the grooves so the new speed nut grabs properly.

I take car to be sure the speed nuts go back in the original grooves if possible. Also, if a nut is loose, you can flatten the deformed "threads" on the nut using a hammer and punch so it will grip better.

I am using new speed nuts, but it seems that some of the post are rotted smaller if this makes sense. I did try the next size down ( what the local hard ware had) but it was too small. I have a front and rear trim with these issues most went on with out any problems

Try some metric sizes if you can find them. Worked for me.
