Why does everybody think you need to use high heat paint on an engine? How hot do you think it gets? Ever lay your hand on the roof of a black car on a 90 degree day? Or for that matter, the hood?

Agree.First off, best of the rattle cans? None. If you really want to use a can, go to your carquest store and have the paint guy can you what you want. If your looking to smooth out the cast look, and want the "primer" to act as a filler, use a primer/sealer, or better yet a high build epoxy sealer.Primer needs to be cured, then scuffed before topcoat, sealer needs only to be cured. BUT there is a window for your color to be applied, then even sealer needs to be scuffed. HVLP guns are dirt cheap for what you need

One thing to keep in mind, once your engine is clean enough for paint, "it isn`t"

And there you have it boys and girls! Dave hit it right on the head! If you use epoxy, you can do it all in the same day, you just have to wait a bit on the epoxy, then just top coat. No sanding required.

I do appoligize for not giving more input lately however someone in my neighborhood killed my 8 year old siberian husky with a lethal dose of antifreeze or rat poison on december 8th. he suffered a painful death. I still have one husky left but the humble house still isn't the same, Dave your 425 block you sold me is done and waiting in plastic till spring. just between you guys i have so much pain and sorrow on my plate right now that if I give asshole remarks to anyone I really don't mean it. I really appreciate all you input on primer and or paint. Thank You --Diesel Lochowicz 12/8/2014, My big man may he rest in peace. Daddy ,Mom, Maya , and nolan love you forever.

I do feel your pain Tom. For those that don`t know the bond created between animals and there human family, your missing one of Gods greatest gifts.
Spell DOG backwards (dogs are his favorites)
There is a bridge of memories from Earth to Heaven above… It keeps our dear ones near us It’s the bridge that we call love.
As far as asshole remarks, don`t worry about it, I never do

Tommy, I feel your pain also. I have a lab/Shepard mutt , almost lost her last year to some mysterious illness. Spent 5k at the vets to save her. She is healthy now but not the same dog the illness did permanent damage to her kidneys.

I can't even fathom somebody doing that, I think I would end up in deep trouble if I ever found out who did something like that. I hear now people are going around marking your house and a few weeks later coming back and stealing your dog, that worries me more than anything. Hang in there and cherish the memories, and Dave we both know what will happen to that creep when it's his turn to meet his maker at the pearly gates.

No need to apologize or justify your feelings On a side note, if your block is wrapped tight in plastic, make sure there's plenty of breathing holes so for air movement. And not in a damp unheated garage

My wife and I have had many dogs over the course of our marriage and it hurts when they leave us no matter what the reason.
