I currently have an electric fan set up on my wife's "clone" 65 442, but would like to have the stock fan, clutch, and mounting hardware should I decide to convert back down the road. We converted it over to the 400 during restoration.

Stock setup did not have a clutch on it. Just a four blade fan and one inch pot metal attachment hub. I live where it is hot and that did not work AT ALL. Special built stock look radiator and a seven blade steel fan made it cool.

An A/C car would have a fan clutch and a 5 or 6 (too many Irish to remember just now) blade fan.

clutch fan in 65? ? A shroud with the stock high pitch 4 blade makes a huge difference. That fan actually moves a lot of air.

This topic has been argued before. One guy says they came with em', one guy says they didn't. I don't know myself. But, the 56,000 A/C car that I'm working on, has one and it's a one owner car. Just had the clutch restored / rebuilt. So, I sure hope it's supposed to be on there.

I seem to remember a long way back, a conversation pertaining to something that was illustrated in that "bible" At that time I assumed the illustration to be correct, or "gospel". I remember being corrected, and schooled, as to the "bible" being a pre-build compuliation, and did not necessarily reflect final production procedures. I`d have to see it on a build sheet, window sticker, or other form of documentation that I would deem pertinent.
Unless of course someone has a 65 that`s been under there bed, never left there sight since it rolled off the line

Never found it in any accessory code list, anywhere!

Thats because it wasnt an option. It was used with A/C. Thats it. That page is also listed in the updated year end manual I have.
If you see A/C on a build sheet, window sticker, etc then you have proof the clutch fan was production.

The one I had several years ago was a Detroit built car...bought from the original owner. Had just under 90K miles. Did have some minor modifications to it (intake/Carb), but the engine was never out of the car and still had the original fan shroud.

My 442 - I'm the 3rd owner, also Fremont car - has a clutch, 5 blade fan and the stupid skinny metal ring. Same set up on my Cutlass vert, I'm the 2nd owner. I've known this car since '68, absolutely original. I also stripped a Holiday Coupe with the same A/C set up.

Lansing car, 56,000 miles, one owner, A/C, plastic shroud, (6 blade), I think, have to dig it out and look again. Wonder if early and late build, makes a difference?
