I bought some used interior door moldings for my 65 Cutlass. I used a dremel tool to clean up the surface rust on the back of the moldings and straightened the nail like fastners (tabs) with pliers. My concern is that these nail like fastners will break when I install the trim to the panels and bend them to hold the molding in place. I don't think they can be welded back because that would ruin the trims stainless finish.
Does anyone have any tricks or suggestions for attaching the moldings if these tabs break? Or would a shop that restores stainless trim be able to fasten new tabs?

i would think,by looking at my extra ones, that if they were only bent once and opened, they should bend one more time at least. the stainless is pretty tough.

I bought new stainless tabs from an interior shop cut them to length and epoxied them onto the trim.
