As you all know my 400 block was cracked and I got a 65 425 block from dave. Now my question is are they completely the same other than the bore difference? Reason Im asking is I'm ordering parts and I can't find a lot out their. Ex will a cam be different, if memory serves its all the same as far as buying 400 parts for a 425 block right? I am using my 400 A heads on the 425 block if that helps.

The 400 and 425 are the same, except piston dia and piston rings. The heads are identical just stamped Vxxx for 400 and Mxxx for 425.(one head only, original passenger side). The 65 cam should be 45 degree, with.821 dia lifters. Watch out for Poncho .821 lifters.

Check out his web site and give him a call. www.supercarsunlimited.com/Supercars is nothing more than a mail order house. There knowledge is at best superficial. I`ve spoke to them on two separate occasions, both were technical in nature and quickly turned frustrating. The person I spoke with had a short fuse when pinned down to specifics. They tend to spend time cruisin the olds sites for negative feedback and get rather mouthy. Wouldn`t surprise me to get some feedback on this post

the EARLY 400 and 425 are the same specs minus the bore. Push rod lengths are different according to the Mondello tech reference manual(9.644 400, 9.622 425). Heads and cam should interchange fine as long as it's 45 degree. Fly wheel and water pump is also interchangeable.
For the record the following is the information for the stock cam:
1965 Early 400 - 52 Overlap/Int 278@0/Exh 282@0/Int lift .430/Exh lift .432
1965 425 - 50 Overlap/Int 286@0/Exh 280@0/Int lift .472/Exh lift .461
