gmdolds...looks real nice and like familyrides1965 said she was a solid foundation to start with. Reminds me of my car...solid frame, trunk, floors, quarters, etc.
What's the drive train?

Hi gmdolds
I noticed the new engine has the left hand alternator mount. Are you going to add air conditioning? To me the A/C is a must have if I want to use the car for "date night". And I would double down on the insulation for the floor, as those headers will heat up the interior.
I also have a brute 455 with .030 over bore for a white Cutlass (at least a year out to even start work on this project). Have not decided on the trans, may use my OW turbo 400.
Will your stock 10 bolt rear survive the big block? In the early 70's, I scattered my 10 bolt posi. 10.5" wrinkle wall slicks are tough on those spider gears.
On the yellow 442 car, below, I rebuild the 10 bolt, 3.90 gear original rear, and fabricated some shims to preload the spider gears (the cone type posi wear increases the slack in the spider gears making destruction more imminent, as you may already know). Maybe only baby slicks (9" cheaters) will ever go on this car, as it is the 400 block and mild cam.
Nice work.

Thanks guys for all the reply's. its got a 468 w a th-400 3200 stall. yes it has air and a saden compressor in a fabed mount pictures latter. the rear is a 71 olds 10.5 with an eaton posi and 342's. i took this thing down to every nut and bolt, it was an arizon car but i did have to replace the trunk pan, the quarters had been hit at some point, banged out and all the side trim had been removed and holes welded over before i got it, there were some small areas of rot on the door skins. i paid $3200 for it and have the protecto plate and book. As you can see im not doing a factory resto, im trying to relive my youth. I'll update further this evening.

I think I have to re think the AC belt. The car is not on the road yet. I notched the dash to recess the AC, this took a lot of thought I felt like I was committing a sin but I did it in such a way so it could be reversed. I'll have to see how this works ought.

How tall of an air filter do you have there? Hood clearance is a premium on these 65's. I see you have a deep dish base plate, but that filter looks taller than what I would expect to fit.

The hood is prob going to have some surgery and augmentation. Once I get it on the road, tuned and tested I may end up putting a torquer intake on it which contributes further to the clearance issue.

If that's a Performer intake you currently have on there, the carb pad height is basically the same as a Torker (Performer 4.95" v Torker 5.05"). So you shouldn't be in any worse shape than you already have for hood clearance.

Cool, from reading forums and articles people came across that it was considerable.
