Need the solenoid that controls oil pressure to vary the stall on the converter for a TH-400. This is not the same solenoid as in the ST300, nor is it the same as the kick-down solenoid. The part in the picture is the unit I got in a Kenne Bell kit back in the late 80's, and it is apparently a factory "service replacement" unit. The original looks similar to the kick-down solenoid, with a can containing the electrical parts off to the side of the mount, but it has a narrower mounting pad than the kick-down. Actually, as pictured, both solenoids (switch pitch and kick-down) will come as a wired together unit. The solenoid on the left is the service replacement unit for the switch pitch.

There is a guy on the Olds email forum on Google, Bruce is his first name. He is the switch pitch guru and should be able to help. Let me know if you are not subscribed and I will post an email for you.

PAE Enterprises used to sell the switch pitch conversion kits after Kenne-Bell stopped, but the PAE website has been dark for a couple of years now. Have you tried Fatsco?

I went to a local transmission shop here in town. Talked with the old guys, including the owner. They were very familiar with the part, and were able to help me with a part number, although they didn't have one in stock anymore. We found one at OldsObsolete.com, so I bought it this morning. And it's the original "can" style, not one of the warranty replacement parts.
Thanks everyone.
