Does anyone have any experience disassembling the odometer? Some of you may remember last Spring I pulled my speedometer out because the odometer got stuck when turning over to the next 1000. Once I had it striped down, jiggling the numbers and blowing compressed air freed things up. I was afraid to try to disassemble it the rest of the way to ensure that everything else was still in good shape, so I put it all back together and reinstalled the dash (after I freshened up the dash again). Everything worked fine until I put another 1000 miles on the odometer by the end of the season, and sure enough the odometer locked up again as it attempted to roll from 76,999.9 to 77,000.0 so I just reached under the dash and disconnected the cable, driving it that way the last few weeks of the season. So I'm hoping someone has pulled the odometer completely apart, or maybe someone has an extra one or two that they'd be willing to experiment with and document the process. I'm sure there would be several people on here that would be very appreciative.

Postcar came through with a replacement odometer... much appreciated as usual! I found that the original odometer's 10,000 and 1,000 counters were binding on the drum shaft, but by spinning them quite a bit playing with it, they freed up. I could probably have reused that drum, but taking the dash out isn't my favorite thing to do, so I reset the counter to the 77,000 mile reading, and put it in the speedo head, and put the dash back together.
I removed the 8 nuts that bolt the dash in when I pulled it, but only had 7 on hand when I went to install it. Then during the process of reinstalling the nuts, one of them slid between the brace and lower dash frame by the radio, and after a 1/2 hour trying to extract it, I said f*** it. I said worse than that during the 1/2 hour I tried to get that nut back, but you get the point.
So now I'm 2 short. And they're not 10-24 or 10-32 either, but it's close. So do any of you have a small handful of these nuts you can spare out of your stock?

I don't think I remember seeing 6/32" nuts and bolts. Unless I can find them at some specialty hardware, below a 1/4" I've only seen #12-#4. The #10-24 is close, but won't quite work.

So I crawled back up under the dash to pull one of the nuts that secure the dash to the frame. It turns out that the nut turns onto a #8-32 stud.

6/32 are used on electrical plugs and switches to hold them to the box
