My brother-in-law is putting his car together and just put the motor in the frame (body still off). His car is a 65 Cutlass with a 455. He has a set of hooker headers now that don't fit very good. He may have used the forward holes for the motor mounts (he has to check) but even if he did use the rear holes for the motor mounts he believe the problem would be worse.
Any suggestions on which headers fit the best without any modifying or dimpling?
Thanks, JOhn

I think the consensus is Kooks (but I don't have a set to agree/disagree with that). Mine are American Racing Headers, sourced through Mondello, and I had to do some "heat and beat" on both sides to get them to clear. Fortunately they're stainless, so I didn't have to worry about beating any coating off of them.

You have to order them threw MJ performance that's the only place you can get them. They will set you back a little over a thousand.

Its my understanding that Nick (the owner of ARH...American Racing Headers) used to work for Kook's or Dougs.......which ever one it was, was known for building really nice fitting Olds headers. Nick left to start ARH, when he left the good fitting Olds headers left with him. You can order them from Smitty, (M & J) or Wise performance.... I just picked up the phone and called Nick directly at ARH. He has a website that you can order the headers straight from him and if there are any issues you can deal directly with Nick. He is a really good guy!

I used Hedman 58150's because I already had them. I had to trim some off one of the driver's side front lower control arm mounts, and ding a tube on the pass side. But hey I saved money. Lol

I have the ARH headers that Shane and Real57vetteguy are talking about on my car in the 1-7/8" tube size. They fit great and still look brand new after 3-4 years. As far as the Kooks go they no longer make them. They sold the jigs to Dick Miller Racing and they now manufacturer them and from what I've heard they don't fit very well.
