Hi guys,
I removed my intake, valve covers etc last night. Mainly to fix a minor leak, but now I am thinking of powdercoating the intake and valve covers. Also while its apart I am thinking of changing from the original distributor with a petronix set up to a true HEI setup. I would like to run something with a rev limiter just to be safe. Is anyone running a set up like this?

Sounds like I should take a look at those! It baffles me as to why my current setup is still advancing at 3500 RPM, Its a factory dist with the petronix kit, I know you can change the springs to change the amount of advance but does it change when it is advancing? I found some paint and clear coat made by VHT that is supposedly resistant to oil, gas and good to 500 degrees, I smoothed the valve covers tonight and painted the intake and valve covers, I am going to let them cure for a few days then test them with some gas to see if it really works, if not I guess I will head to the powder coaters. I also do not like my wire sheathing I used, its the old asphalt/tar based stuff and it smudges on anything hot, I would like to get some ideas for some neat looking wire sheathing. I took a stab at bending my own tranny lines and it turned out decent but I'm really not happy with it, so I might redo that as well. I like my routing just not the neatness of the lines.

Depends on what manifold you are running some of the aluminum ones will interfere.

Last time I had the intake off I had it burnished using walnut shell chips. The process semi-polishes the aluminum, basically closing up the pores so that dirt and chemicals don't accumulate in the nooks and crannies. So when I get gas, antifreeze, grease, whatever, it just wipes off.
I'll try to get a close picture of it so you can see what the finish looks like. Folks at the cruise-in thought it was powder coated, and couldn't believe it when I told them it was still raw aluminum.
