Hey there, Just posting up my first hello.
Name's Grant and I currently live in Santa Monica, CA. I picked up my first 442 not long ago. It's a '65 Mohave Mist Sport Coupe with a 4-speed. It's in pretty good shape but but someone along the years was quite a hacker. It needs a few rigged up work-arounds reversed and it'll be a nice driver. I got a lot of help from Bro's clone page when I was buying it.
It's pretty cool because my grandpa had a '65 442 Club Coupe with a heavy duty 3-speed, in 1965. He might be more excited about the car than I am!
Anyhow, gotta go down and turn some wrenches on it. It had a Borg Warner pile-o-junk from an early 80's Camaro in it. (not to mention it was stuffed up in there without a pilot bearing and with a generic chev/BOP bellhousing). Bought a Muncie last night so I gotta go put that in along with a real olds bellhousing. I'll post up some pictures later.
cheers, Grant

Glad to have you in the group..........you'll find all the help you'll need from this bunch and maybe a little more. If you get back on my sight register your 442. I'm eventually trying to compile a list of the survivors and where they're located. BR[]

OK guys, took me a few days but here are some (bad) pics. Scott, I'll search around the site for pics of yours. Looking forward to seeing another Mohave Mist post! I love this color. My mom's '72 Impala is a similar color (not exact). My interior is black, although it's supposed to be fawn. It's new interior so I probably won't go ripping it out anytime soon. (plus, black looks nice for now) Br[], I'll get mine on the registry soon. That's a great website. Jasen, My dad told me that there is a pic or two of my grandpa's '65. I'll try to get them when I go back up north next. (At a friend's house, not my '55) The day I closed the deal. and YES, my data plate shows the optional side trim from front to back along the fenders. Nice touch. bad interior pic transmission ready to go in. M21 from a '68 Camaro (close enough. way better than that Borg Warner from an '82 Camaro) my gigantic workspace in Santa Monica. It's clear that some items on the car are wrong. - wheels/tires have got to go - blacked out side scoops should be body color (although I like them that way and I'll probably leave them no matter how much shit my dad keeps giving me) - it has a 330ci from a '64 automatic that had A/C (automatic crank and vacuum activated heater valve on intake) We learned about Auto vs. Manual crankshafts over the weekend. Had to get Mondellos to overnight the pilot bearing adapter. should be here today within a couple hours. All sorts of fun. My dad is down from Washington State visiting me to see the car and help me with a couple things. He had to extend his stay a while. - radiator is wrong, but I bought a repro from Original Parts - Mirror is wrong but I bought a replacement already - sun visors are wrong, bought correct reproductions It had power assist disc brakes added in the front along with power steering. Might as well leave that for now since it works really well and I'm going to drive it. I'll have some more pics as we button this thing up.

Welcome aboard from another newer member. You'll find this forum one of the best, if not the best, place for your 65 project. I use to own a 65 and sold it in ''06'' owned and restored it for 12 years. I found that these group of 442 owners are full of info and always willing to help. Enjoy the site.

Welcome! I'm probably as old as your granddad. My story is a little like his: I bought a '65 as my first brand new car, had to unload it 8 mo later, as Uncle was calling & I couldn't afford the pmts. Never forgot it. Here it was 44 yrs later & I bought one again! Ralph

That's probably about how long my Grandpa had his Ralph. He went through a lot of cars. Back in the 60's he'd buy a brand new car about every year or so and trade the previous one in. (back when farming was good) Always plain-jane and as fast as possible, hence the Club Coupe with the HD 3 speed. This is one that he says he wishes he would have kept, along with many others. Got the M21 in last night after finding the bearing that Mondellos overnighted on my neighbor's porch instead of mine. They fat-fingered the address. Got everything buttoned up in four hours and took it on a test drive, but only after a friendly visit from Santa Monica PD because my neighbor complained about the noise (at 8pm). Hard to have a hobby around here. Car runs, shifts and drives really nice. Love that Muncie. My second car with a M21... becoming my favorite transmission I guess. Now I just need another 70 cubic inches.... anyone have those for sale?
