Like looney suggests, toss it. It`s usable, but looks like a 6th. grader was tinkering with his fisher price tool set. The glaze on the distributor is there for a reason, down that low it won`t affect anything, just makes my stomach queasy.
But now I think I have a handle on your wobbly cap. After reading between the lines, I`m guessing it doesn`t wobble while running, it wobbles when you physically move it around. If so, that`s normal. The hold downs are spring loaded so a very slight movement is obtainable. If you say there was no carbon tracks, or cracks in the cap, your firing order is in order, guess I`m a little stumped since I can`t hear it run, it`s hard to say. Just to say running rough won`t do. start from square 1, check your distributor for position (but why should that have changed) your firing order was never mixed up (you just thought it MIGHT be cuz you screwed with the wires) You may have a bad wire now from messin with them(don`t know there age condition) Wire may be missing an end, plug gone bad. I don`t know what to say here. sorry, just not enough info for me, possibly someone else. The misty gas condition I don`t like, be careful, misty gas can get very excitable !! Timing may be horribly retarded. I just don`t know what to tell you.

Don't they make Fisher price toys for grown ups, I think it's called Harbor Freight. LOL, I suggest to follow Loonies suggestion, then pull the shorts up and get busy. If you still have issues I'll throw some more Polish ingenuity your way but I think you have enough to go on at the moment. Good Luck and We'll be waiting for the roar, and if nothing else you defiantly have stuck with it so don't loose hope on it yet.
