I SENT MY CARB TO SPARKY'S AND STILL HAVE TROUBLE WITH IT WHEN IT CAME BACK. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE WHEN I EXCHANGE IT WITH A REGULAR 4GC WITHOUT THE PLUGS FOR THE JETS IN FRONT. THEN EVERYTHING WORKS FINE. EXCEPT THEN I DON'T HAVE THE CORRECT CARB ON. ONE WITH SMALLER THROTTLE PLATE HOLES. MINE DOESN'T HAVE ANY TAG ON IT TO TELL IF IT IS THE CORRECT NUMBER. BUT ALL OF THE THINGS I CAN CHECK LOOKS LIKE THE CORRECT ONE. I DON'T MIND SENDING IT ANYPLACE AS LONG IT IS FIXED RIGHT. ANOTHER SMALL NOTE I AM RUNNING AV GAS 100 OCTANE LOW LEAD I DON'T THINK THAT SHOULD MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE. IT WORK'S OK WITH THE OTHER CARB THANK YOU AGAIN JIM

Numbers: Front - 1.550'ish Rear - 1.680'ish
That's measured over the center of the shaft

I`m guessing that from those that have used his rebuilding service, he must be good. I don`t know why you don`t just pick up the phone and explain to sparky (if that`s even a real person) what you`ve said here. Give him a chance to rectify the problem. There`s always the possibility it`s nothing to do with his work, but talk with him rather than brew in frustration 414.447.7500 Greg (Sparky)

The reason I say"ish" is because depending on how tight one measures it changes a few thousands. I mean, hell, I can get the hole gages out and the mic. As old as these things are, I wouldn't think any two are alike.

Looney, does your carb have the access plugs

Yes sir, it does. But, mine's not the original, it's a Tomco (is that right) that I had redone by a guy locally that I've known for 30 years. He flow tests them and everything. I, most likely won't even have to put a screw driver to when I put it on. He's that good. As you can see in the picture, he replates em' too.

Hey partshelp, Phoenix is kind of a long ways to send a carb to have gone through by someone you don't know. I'm in Michigan. I can get it done, but I don't know if that's something I want to get in the middle of. I would think you should exhaust all the other possibility's first. I know things would be right on this end, but, if you have other issues I wouldn't want you mad at me or the carb man.

I would just call Sparky, he has very good customer service. He will definitely give you or your mechanic the help needed to get it running or he will take it back and fix it.

Sparky a/k/a Greg Kalkhoff is a stand-up guy with his work. I had questions when I got my carb back and he said send it back. He fixed what was wrong and never asked for a dime more. He also spent a good deal of time on the phone helping me figure out the issue.
