single stage urethane is the way i would go on a solid yellow color.much more durable than any acrylic .going a single stage should also save you some money to put towards labor making the body straight .

You, being in California, makes things different than Michigan. I assume all that can be used is water based paint. Single stage urethane is a good way to go for toughness, but, it's not very forgiving. By that I mean, if you scratch it, chip it, or what ever, you just about have to repaint the whole panel and try and blend it into the next panel to get a good color match and blending a single stage is very hard to do. not mention yellow is expensive. Base coat/ clear coat, on the other hand is much more user friendly and it too is urethane. In the case of a scratch or small repair, you repair the area spray to hiding with your color and clear the panel. Dollars and cents wise, it might be a little more, but in the long run I think better. As far as what kind of paint, everybody has there favorite but, one doesn't need to use the name brands to get a good quality job. There are several generics here in Michigan that are outstanding as far as quality goes.
