Fella's-
What's a fair price for a complete 4-speed console?
I am looking at one, which does have a small crack in the plastic, has some pitting on the chrome, and will need to be repainted.
Thanks,
NS

Ive been looking for a while now but can't seem to want to pay 600.00-900.00 for one complete. If you really want it and your loaded pick it up. Answer to your question I would pay 500.00 for one, thats why I don't have one.

I have found it nearly impossible to find a decent original 4-speed console at anywhere near a reasonable price. If you are one of those folks that insists on the part being original than you will need to watch the auctions, Craig's List, and go to swap meets and be ready to pay anywhere from $500 for one that needs work or $1200 for one that doesn't. However, if you do care about the console being original, The Parts Place; www.thepartsplaceinc.com/ sells a reproduction console shell for $300 that is very good. Then all you need are the top plates and other parts to make a complete console. That's easy to do because there are tons of busted consoles out there.

Here's one I just finished today. I need to know if the 65 consoles were like the 66 up units where the light lens is painted unless it's a convertible? I left this one unpainted but that can be changed if need be. It has an original shift boot, not the flimsy repo boot. The top plate & lid have been re-plated. I have a few guys interested but if they pass,it's available.

my 65 has the black plastic where the lens would be OK,do you mean it has a different plastic piece or the lens is painted black? I have a couple more of them and the lens is painted black but they were black units to begin with. My understanding is only the convertibles used the light in the console. I'm talking about 66 up and was curious if the 65 unit was the same?

lens is painted black.
BTW 65s were argent instead of black on the top plates. Thats because they were faster.

I'll sell it for a real car to keep from changing it. ;D I'll change the tach for a vacuum gauge or a Rocket emblem and sell it. Seriously,if somebody buys it for a 65,I'll paint it argent but only after I'm paid.
