My friends' '65 is in the upholstery shop now working with the headliner and the guy is having a hard time installing the rear window trim pieces, the piece that goes on the bottom of the package tray to be exact. His was gone/dissolved so we have no original to go by. Can anyone shoot a quick pic and post it here for reference?

They're are pics on my Resto-Tips Page, but I'm beginning to wonder why bother. Nobody wants to take the time to read the info anyway. rant, rant, rant......................
FYI: There is a huge difference between the Originals and the Shit everyone is selling.

It`s becoming an epidemic !! Questions are asked before ANY research because there are people that will trip over one another to give an answer. I say, if it`s searchable, or researchable, let em` dig a little. I could go in to my McDonalds thing again, but, screw it ! Explanation points AND caps were used in the above post to express my frustration

Maybe if you would make it easier, ie direct link that says RESTO TIPS to where it is instead of link to another forum to where it's at would help. Instead, someone that needs help and isn't the most computer smart guy around gets berated from the get go. Thanks. Yes, I eventually figured it out and yes, I feel your pain with the aftermarket garbage now I am finding out but damn, what a way to help a guy that was in a pinch and adding to the frustration of the project being worked on right now..........

I think Bro gets frustrated because he built a site with everything you need and people dont go there looking for their answer. Also, I found what you needed in about 3 seconds using the search button. Even used your exact words... w29.boards.net/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1819&page=3This forum has covered a bunch of stuff, like the rear window pieces. If you did a search, you wouldve found your pic, and not had to come back looking for replies. So yes, sometimes we get a little edgy when questions get asked before any digging is done.

You should try your first restoration with 1970 technology. Granted, back then we didn`t know what was to come, but what we lacked then, compared to what`s available now, did teach a very valuable trait. Patience.
Direct links? Not having to go ALL THE WAY over to another forum?
How about this ! STOP--LOOK (i.e. search)--LISTEN(id. est. read)

I understand but as I'm sure you know cause we are dealing with the same car, when the shop says essentially "WTF" to us, I go to the only place for the quickest answer I know of and get the reply I did, well, at the moment, it didn't help. Like I said, I figured it out, just took a little time and keyboard pecking.

An educated man is well read, and is familiar with the search function. In addition, a computer capable of opening more than 2 windows is a nice addition

BRO, I had no idea you had a site until I read one of your other rants about people not using your site to find an answer to their question. Sometimes it's just better to ask a question rather than waste hours of your time surfing through every google link that leads you towards a dead end. Please pass along info about these cars guys. If you don't your hobby/passion will die with you.

If you type 65 442 into any search engine.............. 442BRO & Ultra-High Compression sites are at the top of the list. (not bragging), but if you didn't know the sites were there, it shows that you never tried to look for the info on the web. I realize that the forum is here to answer questions and everyone here is more than happy to help. I honestly didn't mean to start a shit storm. I was just saying "use the info that we've all taken the time to put out there for you"

And I think myself and Bro are passing along the info we have collected, thru this forum and Bros website. I cant speak for him, but thats why I made my site and started this forum. To get the info out there and maybe make these cars more popular and get more people to build them. I dont know what else we can do other than starting a 1-800-442-1965 hot line. ;D When I started my red car I went to his site almost hourly, to the point I knew where everything was and damn near memorized it. Its a must read if you want to restore or build one of these cars. And its easy as hell to find.

I dont know how many forums you frequent but picking apart cars is what a lot of people do. Its everywhere. Check this out, no proof of car being a clone or real, but author posts up about it being fake anyway. Guy alledgedly is a OCA judge for 69s. classicoldsmobile.com/forums/general-discussion/49744-beware-w32-clone-ebay.htmlYes, some answers, this thread being one of em, have a little bit of bite to them. I guess it comes back to Bros site having alot of this stuff. Not many cars have a site as comprehensive as his. Maybe thats why some answers are read that way.

BRO, your response shed a little light on why in the past I never ran across your site during a search. I generally don't use 442 in any of my searches. In my case I have a plain-jane f-85 body. Other than the obvious body panels and glass my car is "different" in many ways. If it had not been for J's invitation to join this site I probably would've skipped it over thinking it would just be a stuffy 442 only site. Most of what I know about f-85's I have learned from you and J on this site (thank you both). This is not a rant , I do appreciate all that I have learned from you guys! Thank you guys for sharing this info on your sites also. If you see me post a stupid question, my search probably led me in a few circles with no good/clear answers and I would like to hear what you guys think. Thanks again.

WOW,WOW,WOW, this is one of those posts that just keep on giving. I think if you go through this post and read all the reply's you can come out with Pro's and con's for both sides of the table. I think maybe we (JR) should start a sticky that states (before you ask or search check out these sites) and have a simple post which basically says that loads of information and pictures are located at these sites>> with the web addresses to the sites. Don't worry if you got your head handed to you by a couple of us if you asked a silly questions (I'm sure you didn't feel it was silly), it's probably has happened to me and a lot of other people and I'll be damned if it ever stopped me from asking another silly question. What going to happen, you might get your chops punched, no big deal, my computer screen hasn't evolved to the point of dishing out physical pain and I'm pretty sure that covers everybody's monitor. I would also like the boss man to expand (add) some more direct sections on the site(engine, chassie, ect.) but >> maybe one day he'll get tired of me bugging him and he'll just do it to shut me up. And I do agree that using the search function mostly never finds me what I want, I'm sure it's just me. And JR didn't research all of Bro's site, he gave up on that and made me drive my car over his house and he would crawl all over the damn thing to figure out what the hell we was going to do next.

I have to agree. Im very new to the 442 restoration and a non 442 buddy of mine even told me about BRO's site. I sent him a email, with the correct answer I was looking for and at the end of the email was a sentence stating check out U.H.C. Forum, lots of owners with answers you need and the best place to find parts. I know people are busy these days but shit I've only been a member for a few months, but I'm into reading all the older posts, some are actually really funny...

"olznut"
Don`t know if I ever welcomed you to the site, Welcome! Now that your hazing is over, it`s time to get down to business. Remember, if you can`t find what your looking for, shout out. The search never worked that great for me either, but between this site and BR[]`s, there isn`t much to add. And as stated earlier, there is a lot of contradicting info on the web, when puzzled, speak up. The worst thing that can happen is getting heckled again.
That`s about as close as I can get to an apology

Lemme get back to the original reason I posted and with a little update today with a little rant. Looks like the seat covers from OPG, which I'm pretty sure are PUI, DON'T FIT WORTH $HIT!! Interior guy (who owns a '65 GTO) has to do quite a bit of modifying to make it work and it's gonna cost us several hundred $$$ more than originally quoted. What other choice do we have out there? Nothing has fit properly without modifying, this is turning out to be a very aggravating final step in finishing the car.

You will almost always modify when buying from OPG not to mention forever and a day on shipping and high cost for shipping. Here in West Michigan, many people use LA Trim, not cheap but very good at what they do. I don't know where they buy there stuff but it's always the best in quality. I do know they do work for award winning cars,,,,,,,,,, Scott Tieman, the Kryta Bros., Arnie Beswick's personal stuff and so on.

As for pui a buddy of mine just bought some and the stitching was screwed up on them he called them up and they replaced them free of charge.
