Well most of you already experianced this yourselves but was my first time driving the Cutlass with the 3:73 Posi versus the old 3:08 Peg. WOW what a differance! The higher gears work much better with the 425/TH350 as the motor build seems to like the higher RPM's. It's truly like driving a different car, very happy with the performance change ;D ;D Now I just need to figure my dead spot out in the carb... thinking I need to change springs in the pump... Thats for a different thread though.

Lower gears are definitely fun! I have 3.89's in my 65, but I'm looking to go with something higher so I can start driving this thing long distances.

Bill, my original gears were 3:23's but were changed to 3:55's. The latter provides solid acceleration off the line but also gives me 15.5 mpg on day trips to shows. I'm not sure that I'd want to go to 3:73's personally for my particular situation.

i have been eyeing the 355 8-)as well wayne, my 323's are holding back a little of my "neck snappin' torque" behind the m20 gearing, would like to travel a bit more when i get back on the road, want to put in a posi anyway, lotta play in my spidergears now

I won't lie, the set-up I have is fast, but any real acceleration in first is just a pedal fest. I think the higher gear in my car will help bog the engine enough to slow the spin and allow the engine to do what it does best.....pull like hell. And then I could enjoy long trips up the interstate.

I know the highway gear will slow me down off the line, but I'm hoping the torque will help with that.

The 442 had a peg leg 3.08 when I bought it. Drove it around the block a few times hated it. Can't wait to get the restoration finished and take it for a spin with the 4.33 in it.

Not at all, more worried about how she comes of the line and goes threw the gears. ;D

I suppose with my carburation I'm fortunate to get anything around 15 mpg taking it easy.

Cool, what size are your quads? Cant see well enough but is your linkage a lokar style or solid to the existing firewall setup? Im using a 750 that ive rejetted and smaller rods so flowing much higher rate. might be too rich, still playing with it.

I'm not certain of the size but I suspect they are 750's but it's difficult to decode the existing numbers on the carbs. The linkage is solid in that both carbs run on the 2 barrels on normal driving but the remaining 2 barrels kick in simultaneously when put into passing gear if what I'm saying makes sense.
