is it a posi? with the rear end up off the ground yes both wheels should be spinning the same direction if the clutches and springs are not broken inside the housing. There is a code on the passenger side axle tube I don't remember if its the front of the tube or the rear. If you need to know what the codes are go to Bros site and look under trans and rear info. www.442bro.com/

Pull the pan and look. That way you'll know your gear ratio too. No more mystery.............

Same site - he specializes in Olds rears - new or used - and reasonable, from what I've heard!

I`ll say 99% sure, there`s something about the bushings on the 64, but I don`t believe it will impact what your doing. I`ll see if I can hunt down the info on the swap.

From what I found the 64 rear bushings are smaller diameter (i assume they are speaking of o.d.) positioning of the housing would, in this case, not be a concern. So I say, GO FOR IT !! I checked the GTO posi unit I have laying out back, bushings are same size as 65 olds units I have, so the GTO diff. must be 65 also. The unit your looking at must be a cone type?
