It looks like the rear quarter extensions (the pot metal piece that attaches to the rear of the quarter panels that "shroud" the tail light buckets/lenses) have/had a rubber "gasket" to separate the extension from the quarter panel. The 47 year old piece, which fits into a groove in the extension, has dried out and broken into pieces. What are you guys using in place of the old gasket?

This may sound a little cheesy but I just used some "rope caulk". I think it was about one eighth or three sixteenths diameter and placed it into the groove of the extension and bolted it on. Trimmed off any excess and smoothed it out with a wet finger. As my daddy used to say-crude but effective.

It works....... It keeps the water out......... and no one will know the difference When the fender extension is tightened, it's very hard to tell if its even there.
