I am at the track last night shaking down my new trans in my Malibu last night and this older Italian guy walks up and asks if I have any belts in my tow truck. I look around and find a few. I ask, "What are you working on?". " A 67 442" No shit. Turns out these three Long Island childhood freinds are putting one on their bucket list. They drove this pretty nice 67 all the way from NY to FlArida to visit John Antellinis' Cars of Dreams Museum cruise this weekend. They decided to kill some time to taking the car to Palm Beach International Raceway. Vinny, the owner, bought the car right before his tour in Vietnam which lasted until 71. The car sat in his parents garage until he finished college in 78. The car literally has 29,000 miles on it. 1500 of which were put on since Monday. While I was fixing the belt issue (The three had a combined age of 228) I asked Vinny what was up with the G headed 455? He said the 400 cracked a block in 85 sitting in the cold winter sometime in the 80s. He said it is sitting in Boca right now. So, I put the alt belt back on, the tree jump in, and Vinny dumps the clutch doing a fairly nice burnout for a guy in his late 60's early 70's. No apologies for this crappy cell phone pic. And yes, it is a post car.

WOW nice looking car. I guess the old saying is still true "you just never know who you'll run into." Thanks for sharing Andy. Gary

These guys made my day after having a so so night in the Malibu. I felt bad for sweating all over the car, but hey, any time you can save a guy a tow, you are doing good.
I wish I could have got an interior shot of the car. You can tell they have been living in the car for a week. Cigarrete ashes, coffee cups, and clothes everywhere. I just hope I get to do cool shit like that when I retire.
So so night? Yeah, she went 9.80s on engine. 1.33 60 foots, wheels up all night. But then the valves started to loosen up, started to break up above 5000. Last pass before loading up it started to smoke really bad on the right side. As the rockers loosened up it turned the pushrods into fire hydrants overcoming the breater on top of #8. But she is square now and my new Italian freinds are coming to my rental on Sunday. Vinny is talking me into a loaning him a set of drag radials and he wants to get me behind the wheel for a run.
" Yo, Ange. If you run da cah and it breaks, I know yous fix it up for us"
I love these guys. If you saw them in a grocery store, you would have no clue they were car guys.
