Thanks to Br[] for putting me in touch with this message group. After years of reading, going to car shows and listening to my father's old war stories of racing his '70 Cuda, I finally put some money on the table. I had always been a fan of the 1970 442 body style, but fell hard for the 65 after shopping the market for 6 months. You simply don't see them at every cruise night. I've had my 442 Sport Coupe for roughly a year. Lots of improvements have been done - some myself, most tried myself and then fixed by a better mechanic. Look forward to reading and contributing. Owning this car was a bucket list item for me. Putting some personal stock in it will be the real pleasure. 65 442 Sport Coupe 68 455 / 68 TH400 Shaun recently moved to Columbus, OH area

Looks great Shaun. Did Bro give you a hard time about it being a post car?
And your car was originally painted Lucerne Mist on the top and white on the lower. Ive never seen one painted like that.

Wow the car looks great. The engine bay is nicely detailed. Paint looks good as well, have you wet sanded and polished it yet?

Nice ride, I have a soft spot for Sports Coupes. Yours is loaded with options and a two tone as well, sweet.
Welcome,

Appreciate the comments.
Bro let me slide on it being a post car. Perhaps a little leniency for a rookie.
The trim around the top of the vehicle is slightly pulled away/elevated from the metal. I can only assume that meant it was originally a vinyl top? Blue on white is interesting combo. I need to find a photo of one...just cant picture it.
Paint has been polished but not wet sanded. The car has lacquer cracks in the fenders and trunk. I didn't want to wet sand for fear it would only draw out more cracks.
Wheels are 4.75" bolt pattern - 15"x7" rear, 15"x6" front.
Looking to add an HEI this weekend. Any particular preferences from experience with a 455? Mallory, MSD, Proform?

Id say its real interesting, never seen one painted your way. Could not have been many painted that way.

You will notice that I am one of the only ones that haven't made reference to the Sport Coupe. Admittedly it is my 2nd favorite choice of 65's (my first was a Holiday Coupe), but it's still very far ahead of those bathtubs with an awning.

Still, can't be that that many of any type. I'd have to check the files on my old computer to see if I can find it.

Given that my paint needs to be redone - I've given some thought to the original arrangement from my dataplate: light blue upper, white lower. Couple of questions for the experts: - does returning the car to its original paint add value to the vehicle (even though the powertrain is not original)? - what is the correct pattern for a two tone in 1965? For example, upper = top only / bottom = all metal below windows? Or is the pattern more flexible like the 64' show car Bro listed a while back (photo below)?

Here's a different style of two tone on a 65. It's not stock, but I think it looks pretty nice. This car is in Thailand and is running a Lexus engine, if I remember right.
