"One of these bars is not like the other..." These are the braces that go from the frame to the corner of the front bumper. I think the one that's bent (on the left side in the picture) is for the drivers side. I may be able to heat it and straighten it in a vice, but since it's a tube, instead of a solid bar, I'm afraid it might collapse or kink. Anyone have a good replacement candidate?

If FR doesn't have one for you I know I have a few of those tucked away some where.

Just my 2 cents here, cut out the damaged tube, weld in a new section, DONE !! It'd be a cool approach if I had a welder, or even knew how to weld. I played with Lego's as a kid, so I only know how to bolt things together. ;D

I apologize, no disrespect intended. And none taken... I've always thought about getting a welder, but without any training using it I figured I wouldn't like the end result of whatever I joined. And I've managed to limp by without it... it would have made some things easier and cheaper though. My brother-in-law brought over a cutting torch a while back for the '97 Jeep project I offered to help him with (4.0L I-6 out, LS1 in). Now THAT's a cool tool... beats the heck out of a hack saw or cut-off wheel. Just gotta keep your eye out for those little "lava BB's"! Shane has sent me several emails (Thanks Shane!) that offer some solutions. I am going to go ahead and try to heat up and straighten the one I've got and see if that works out. I'm just afraid that since it's a tube, the likelihood of kinking or deforming it is very likely. Shane has a few sets... I just don't want to take his good one that he has reserved for his build. There is a guy just south of here that's parting out a '65, and I've sent him an email to see what he might happen to have for back-up. And it sounds like you (postcar) have a solution in mind that might work out as well... we might have to look into that further. The one I have is quite usable... there's enough adjustability for it to bolt up... it was in use over the last 26 years I've had the car. But I figure... why put something back in that's bent if I don't have to?
