Bet you thought this was more political talk ;D not really, just wanted to say I finally decided on a new rear for the Cutlass. Replacing the 3:08 peg with a Brian Trick built 3:43 posi from a 71 olds. Should be here in early December. Will likely then replace the new TH350 with a 700R4. Should be a decent setup behind the 425. Might go with the 2004R but leaning 700 for the lower first gear. Either way I'll need a new driveline. While im happy with the 3:08, this should be a fairly big change.

Should be a real noticeable change especially if you go the 700 route. Now back to politics, my vote, which will be cast over the internet. 3:43`s + 700

You getting new offset wheels to help with the wider rear END. BTW, what happened to my patch panel, my supply of smoked fish is getting low too, what the hell else can I leach off you ??

Wheels should fit, will be close anyway. The 71 is 5/8" on each side and Ive got about an inch. worried about the indent on the wheel well though, will see. Just got a new batch of fish the other day and your patch is somewhere in the garage.

Called Brian and had him change to 3:73's. Caught him in the nick of time as the rear was in primer yesterday. This gives me more choices and the gear vendors option looks very good.

Cool.... I've been eyeing the combo myself. Actually, I already run a 3.73 gear w/ a TH400, but like the idea of the overdrive to get the final drive ratio down, as well as the narrow shift band to keep the RPM's up, making my very mild converter (switch pitch w/ about 2300-2500 on the high stall) work pretty good... in theory anyway.
Since Trick is building your rear-end... could he cut the ends and narrow it a bit (and trim the axles) so that it's the same width as your current package? I'm just worried about your outside clearance. I've got a 69 12-bolt in mine, but run 8" wheels with a 5.5" offset to get the clearance... and still have some issue with occasionally rubbing.
