Hey guys I am new here. Basically this is my intro so I hope this is the right spot for it. I found this forum from the ultra high compression website. Which is fantastic. BTW the 442 came out perfect! I have a 64 Cutlass Sport coupe (wait let me check my dealer book) yup Sports Coupe I forget what it is called sometimes. I joined up here because I am slowly restoring it and there doesn't seem to be much info about these cars anywhere even on Oldsmobile forums. I hope to learn a lot and share some of my projects I do on it. Here is some info about my car. 1964 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sports Coupe It was built as: V8 Bucket seats Automatic trans with floorshift and console White paint can't remember the color of the top Blue interior Power steering no power brakes for some reason pretty sure it had a deluxe interior bunch of boring other stuff like chrome stuff It has a '73 350 Olds in it now and the stock transmission I basically want to restore it back to stock but with a overdrive transmission and discs in the front then later maybe hop it up a bit. Here is my latest project I was lucky enough to find this photo it is basically how I would want my car to end up. This car is a lower model F85 I think mine came with some fancier stuff but this car is almost identical. I think this might be a 442 not sure I just pulled the photos from google.

Welcome aboard! 64's are my second favorite olds! The white one in the photo is beautiful! I hope we can help you whip yours into shape if you need it... I hate using the term resto-mod because it reminds me of that idiot bob varcia from Barrett Jackson, so I call it a muscle car. I am building a muscle car out of my 65 as well. There are a lot of purists on here, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but when these cars were new they stayed stock for oh, maybe 5 minutes. Haha. It looks like you want a muscle car too... Good luck with the project!

Welcome! looks like a good project. You've come to the right place, as this forum is "post coupe heaven". It seems that nearly everyone here is nuts about coupes! I'm a hardtop guy myself, and I wonder when they'll all see the light! All kidding aside, glad to have you with us. '64s are my second favorite Olds also.

Dang, I'm liking the front of the '64s. And I like your ideas of how you're going to restore yours. Looks like some good floor replacement. I mean it, the front of '64s look good.

Nice to see another 64. I'm on my 4th ,3 hardtops and a post over the years. I have 2 hardtops currently. One of the hardtops is a 442,that needs a LOT of work, the other that I have is just a cutlass holiday hardtop, that I hope to be driving this year.

Welcome, I'm a half breed 65/64 front so I warmed them up to at least tolerate non 65 models. In fact the father of the bunch has even bought a 66 now. I'm working on him to become a lover of the LS engines and divorce the old tired BBO's. I figure it want take long, it only took a couple of days before he brought home the 66.
I highly recommend the CCP disk brake kit. I purchased the 4 wheel disk kit and it is basically turn key. The only part not included in the kit is the soft line that goes over the top of the rear differential which I purchased locally. I used the original hard lines untouched. It is very easy to install and stops on a dime now. The only thing that did not work with the install is the clamps that are suppose to go around the axle housing and attach brackets to hold the hard line in place and connect the soft line from the rear calibers fouled with the shock brackets on the axle housing. I had to weld the brackets to the housing and ditch the clamps.
I also highly recommend the LS power plant if you are on a budget. I purchased a complete 38k mile engine trans combo for 3800$. I too was wanting OD and the cost of the trans alone that would hold up behind the monster torque of a BBO was 2/3 this cost. That is the main reason I went the LS route. I’m taking it in this afternoon and having a posi upgrade to my 10 bolt. Performance wise the car has ran a 14.015 at 101 mph ¼ with open rear 3.08 gears. I should be I in the 13 sec club with the new posi. I’m staying with the 3.08 gears because it turns 1900 rpm @ 70 mph and gets 22+ mpg city/highway.
Good luck with your project.

Good to have you in the Forum. I was looking at the picture of your car and judging from the shadow, it looks like Gumby too the picture.

I have been looking on LKQ for a 5.3 Truck LS they are super cheap. I think I will go with one of these and later on swap on some ported heads and a cam for an easy 460hp.

Great Project. My first Cutlas was a 64 sports Coupe.
You have excellant welding skills. Small block OLds with overdrive is the way to go with gasoline costs.
