Hi,
My name is Jon, i'm from Port Washington Wisconsin. I'm a classic car fan, especially Oldsmobiles. I have a couple of 442s, all projects, I recently picked up this '65 and have been tinkering w/ it when time allows. I am a member of Classic Oldsmobile and when I got the '65 did a search for '65 442 over there and found a link to this site. So here I am.
The '65 looks a lot nicer than it is, it has an Olds 350 in it, the last owner turned the 400 in as a core to Jasper. The frame is solid but it is a midwestern car and has it's share of issues under the cheapo paint. It was a Target red car, no idea why they changed it to Burgindy. It is well optioned w/ soft ray glass, power windows, p. trunk, retractable seat belts (mia) and console shifted ST300.
Anyway, hello! Soon I will be parting a '65 2 dr post cutlass I picked up for some items I needed, I will list it here asap.
Greetings!

Hi everyone, thanks for the warm welcome! I'm looking forward to hanging out around here and finding out more info about the '65 442, this is the first one I've had. I've had a number of the '66 and up models, especially the '68-'72. I also am very interested in meeting up with others in the area. We just moved here and don't know anyone yet.
As for the '65 post, it is a blue/blue Cutlass 2 door post, has '87 tabs on it and was probably a very nice car when taken off of the road. Buckets w/ column shift, a/c, and the 315hp 330. A lot of good stuff there, I bought it mostly for some trim items. A tree fell on it and damaged the rood sadly, so it is probably just parts.
Thanks for all the kind words on the '65, some of you (BRO) may have seen it on ebay a few months back. The guy that listed the car was doing his buddy a favor and did not know Oldsmobiles very well. He told me he spoke with you and was trying to figure out if it had the right frame. He thought it didn't and the way he described it to me it sounded wrong too. I gambled and bought it anyway, when I got there I was pleased to see he was wrong. The frame has the proper bracing and extra bolts to locate the upper control arms. The guy I got it from had not owned it long and I have the past owner's contact info. He was not a car guy, just thought the 442 was cool enough to own for over 20 years, all the work was done by others as he mostly liked to drive it and tinker now and then. The original manual is in the glovebox and I'm hoping maybe he has the protecto plate around somewhere. Interior is pretty rough but I'll take car of that this winter. It has a cheap base/clear paint job, I found the receipt for it in the glove box. Shine is ok, some orange peal and some waves. I'm going to try wet sanding some out of sight spots and see if I can get rid of some of the textured surface and deal with the paint for a few years. I have a 455 on a stand that is almost ready to go, i'm going to dress it with A heads and keep it stock looking. Blah. Blah. Blah. Anyway, glad to be here.
Jon
