Anyone know what the R designation on the wheels was for? Just realized each of my wheel studs are also stamped with an R. Coincidence

The "R" stands for "Rectal", which is the same as "Anal". Cause if you let things like that bother you.............. brother you got problems.

NO........ In other words, I don't let things like that bother me and yes I don't have a clue.
There's not one judge at any Olds event that has a clue either, so you'll never be judged on it. If that's the reason for having to have them stamped with an "R", you don't have to worry.

The R on the stud is RH thread. As late as 64 most GM full size cars still used LH thread on one side of the car.

In the fleet shop I use to work we would get pickups towed in with a flat tire and 3 of the 5 lugs snapped off the left side!

OK........ I've waited for BRO or Ram Z to step in and give the correct answer ..... The "R" wheel was on the 4-4-2 and wagons from 65 til 68 I believe. It was a heavy duty wheel that was 14X6 instead of the 14X5. The "R" is stamped next to the valve stem. These are pretty much outdated but I will be glad to help you out and take any off your hands that you might have. I would be willing to pay shipping on them just let me know how much. By the way "yes" I do have a set. Gary
