Thanks Bubba! I know of the differences on the coupe frames but wasn't sure if the same applied to the rag tops. Original frame is MIA, currently mine sits on a '66 coupe chassis. I have a '65 442 coupe frame that I can salvage bits and pieces from...(too rusty to restore) and might be able to box mine if I can't find a suitable (cheap...!) replacement.

Big Mike was talking about parting out a vert, rusty but maybe be better than nothing.

Thanks guys for the consideration...hoping next year will be better financially and I'll be able to search out a good one. (...though I do have a '65 400 that I'd be willing to trade for a clean, useable frame!) You guys rocks!!!!!

RAMZ, I'm a new comer to this forum and really enjoy it. I usually check it daily but only post when I have something of value to contribute. I have contributed some useful stuff to this forum and to BRO, although he didn't post the pics I sent. That's OK, maybe some day he will update his site. Anyway, I would really feel empty if this forum disappeared. There is a lot of others that would feel the same way. We are a small unique group and feel privaledged to have a forum like this to connect with.

You guys rocks!!!!! When I ever get around to parting out my vert, I'll let you know how it looks, but I wouldn't hold your breath because my vert is one rusty mutha.

Ive just about given up trying to make this board work. Its been a total failure so far. Failure? Not by a long shot. All boards/forums/email groups go through slow spells, it's inevitable. I check the board several times a day and try to post every time there is a post. Just keep everything just the way it is, the forum is mighty fine the way it is!

Ive just about given up trying to make this board work. Its been a total failure so far. So that's what started this old post up again, boy you need something to occupy your time, this isn't a site like the FTE (Ford Truck Enthusiast)where there's 260 people looking at just the super-duty section at one particular point in time. There just wasn't that many of these cars made and there are only so many of them left, and a lot of us that do own them don't have any money to spend on them (I know some of us do have the money, that's why I look everyday to see what you guys are doing) so go get a go cart for your boy and chase him around the back yard, chill dude, you have the only 65 442 forum there is, and we are mostly good people trying to make you happy, (I might have stretched that too) but enough said, you want something to keep your idle hands busy I'm sure I could come up with something. ;D

I started it so guys with 65s could have a place to go. Thats it. And it seems like we just arent getting the traffic I thought we would. Over a year later and less than 80 members. Olds made 25,000 442s in 65. Thats not some small number by any means. If a third of them survived that leaves 8,200 of em still out there. I think there are more left than we realize. The members that do contribute are great. I just thought we would have more than we've got so far.

25,000 pails by comparison what other car lines have made, and if there is 8,000 left how many do you discount as being INTERNET illiterate. It's a good site, don't let the non volume of posts disturb you.

Should probably let this die but couldn't sleep last night thinking about RAM Z ;D (not that way) . Any event, this forum is one of a kind, less intimidating and more like a family then any other. While I'm new, I feel like I know most of you already. Also, I've been trading parts behind the scene and meeting great people. Not the type that want to screw you for a buck but the type that want to help your project succeed. One problem though, unless someone directs you in from another larger site, you may never know this is here. No fault of the site or administrators, just people don't look for or expect to find a specific site for a specific and narrow class. I'm a good example. I found classicolds through query and other larger sites. While they were helpful on technical questions about my 425, tranny and general car, they couldn't advise me to the specifics that I really needed. This eventually cost me 50-60% more as I had to learn many things by trial and effort! It wasn't until my cutlass was almost done (and three years later) that someone directed me here from there. I rarely go back now and in fact, got excited enough to buy my first 65 442 ;D ;D ;D. AND...... doing it right the first time. Only because RAM Z's site, pictures and dedication enspired me to do so (no BS). Honestly, I would NEVER have tried to do a frame off and quite frankly I'm glad I am. First it's highly rewarding personnally, secondly I'm finding small historical artifacts (that I would never have looked for), Thirdly I'm enjoying documenting every phase of the project and forth...... given the condition of the rubber joints in the front, it was a death trap waiting to spring. Any event, glad you guys are here and this site exists! It may never be bigger but no other will have the quality, sense of family and friendship as this site does......... Oh yea, let's also keep out the trash that put Chebbies in Olds as it just ain't right (sorry Rockytopper )

Hey you can't think about closing down the site I just got here. I'm just getting back into the 65-442 and I need some hand holding. Comon hand in there its not the number but the quality of post. I'll think of something to contribute. Oh I have one ...... I bought a brandy new 1965 442 and took delivery, I think in Feb. of 65, it had a Q-Jet from the factory. I know I've seen somewhere on one of the post where someonw said there was no such thing .... let me tell you I had one. Looking forward to a new year. Gary

I COULDN'T SLEEP AT ALL LAST NIGHT, tossin and turnin, do dooo do. BRIAN, BRIAN ,BRIAN, you will learn that certain people here will never let this post die. When your car is complete in a couple of years this post will still be around, let's hope it isn't keeping you up from your sleep at that point. ;D ;D ;D

Snip One problem though, unless someone directs you in from another larger site, you may never know this is here. No fault of the site or administrators, just people don't look for or expect to find a specific site for a specific and narrow class. Snip Well, that's an easy fix. All of us are on other lists, forums, and group email lists. If everyone put the URL for this forum in their sig line on every post you make on other lists - who cares if they are a different make’s site - then more exposure will come to this forum.
