Does it matter which direction the control arm bushings in the rear upper arms and the differential? The flange on the lower arms make it obvious which way to install the bushings, but the flanges on the upper arms are both inward, so there's no apparent way which direction to install them.

The images in the Chassis Manual appear to show the differential bushings pressed in with the flanges facing toward the inside. The images of the control arms themselves are not clear enough to indicate which side of the control arm the flange should be on, and the manual indicated that originally only the diff bushings could be replaced, and the others are replaced by installing new arms with the bushing already installed (wow... even back then they had throw away parts).
I know plenty of you have at least once replaced the bushings in your rides, so I'm getting the impression it really doesn't matter which way the bushings are installed, based on the lack of response (cause many on this forum are anal enough about originality to make sure the bushings are installed facing the correct way). ;D

Update...
The bushings in the upper control are will only install into the control arm one way... with the flange of the bushing facing the drivers-side. The two control arms are identical... there is no left and right side. The inside diameter of the bushing holes are two different sizes, allowing the bushing to only install one way.
Lower control arms are similar... they are identical... no left and right side. All four bushings install with the bushing flange facing the passenger side of the car.
The bushings installed in the axle housing appear to install either way. Illustrations in the chassis manual and the assembly manual show the bushing installed with each bushing flange facing inward. But we have evidence with bushings installed with the flange facing outward. Mine were originally facing outward... I acquired my car long enough ago that it isn't likely that the control arm bushing had been changed prior to me taking possession, and I changed them for the first time back in the mid-80's.
