You beat me to posting it, maybe I should take one of the two sets I have and put it up for sale, Nah won't break $100.00. I'll just leave them for when I need them. I quit bidding at $175 or so but $780.00, shipping should be free for that sucker

Good idea! She's old anyway, right? The repro belts with the old hardware are much safer than the old, dried out ones, but I haven't tried the crash test.Yet! ---bil PS-I have several sets I would let go for 400!

ridiculous. existing companies sometimes pay a lot for domain names, but that one is not good enough to pay anything close to that for.

They are cool but there is no way I could pay that much just for plates without registration fees. We don't have any programs like that here. Best we can get is Collector or Hobbyist plates.

Or you can get some plates that go with the car, pay a super low registration fee, and never have to think about plates again. No sending in a renewal, no paying for a new sticker, etc.

Michigan allows you to use a plate thats the year of your car. 35 bucks to register it and its good for as long as you own the car. No sticker renewal every year or buying a new plate.
Buy some cool plates off ebay, register them, and as Jeff said "drive".

Rick,
Here is the response from Jesse Whites office on plates in Illinois:
Historical License Plates, representing the model year, may be displayed on an antique vehicle, provided the owner has valid, current Antique Vehicle Plates. Plates and registration must be kept in the vehicle at all times.

Floriduh has Classic plated that are $100 for the plates and $35 a year for registration. But they are the ugliest putrid blue you will find.

California allows you to assign era correct plates (63-69 are the black and yellow that can be registered to a '65) as long as they are cleared out of the DMV system and you have a matching pair. It doesn't cost anything to assign the plates, but you still have to pay normal priced registration each year and put a month/year sticker on the rear plate.

Not sure anyone else cares but I wanted dolzinning to know that for the black plates in CA, you have to check and make sure the plates are "clear" but then you must get a "1965" year sticker to have them validated by the state for use. I bought a couple of these stickers on ebay for my black plates and that got the state to finally give me the ok to use the black plates.
