Ok... other than heating the garage (which I haven't ruled out yet), are there any methods to battle against the corrosion that forms during the winter on aluminium (like an intake and alternator), and chrome (valve covers)?
Last winter I installed the new motor between the frame rails... and the intake developed some "blemishes" which I attribute to a combination of moisture and cold. The car has been in the garage the entire time (not road worthy yet). Other vehicles I have or had would get this same type of corrosion on the alternator and other aluminum brackets and parts throughout the winter.
I had to return a brand new, unused chrome alternator this past Spring because the top surface of the alternator developed small "pimples" all over. The underneath side was undamaged.
I don't need this to happen again. Thoughts and recommendations?

Have you ruled out using a clear coat on these items? Even a rattle can clear can add years to their clean appearance. JMO
Otherwise, you could move out west, we have no cold here. Heat, lotsa dat, no cold.

Common problem when storing a vehicle on concrete, worst if the concrete is not cured (takes several years) even when cured, without a vapor barrier your going to draw moisture thru concrete that isn`t sealed. What compounds the problem is if you share the garage with the family ride and you bring it in after driving thru salt. The air becomes very humid and salt laden, reacts badly with porous, untreated materials. They make storage bags that you actually put your car in. Now I don`t know if they use a mega twist-tie or what, I`m too cheap to buy one. I put a tarp on the floor, pull it up and secure with bungies, then another over the top.
Heat the space every few days to pull out the moisture, my wood burner works great for that, or wrap it up. make sure you dehumidify the air or you`ll trap it in

Postcar... you nailed the scenario perfectly.
Unsealed concrete floor... shared garage space with daily driver. Looks like I'm going to have to break-down an get some heat in the garage.
Warhead... I thought about the clear coat as well. I wasn't sure how clear would do on polished pieces and chrome... so I've been hesitant to try it.
After the intake was installed I thought I should have powder coated it. I powder coated the oil pan... just wasn't thinking.
