Ok, my Assembly manual doesn't have a wiring diagram. As I'm putting things back together, the blower fan won't come on.
I've got 12 volts from the primary power supply (red wire) to the fan relay, the purple wire runs from the relay to the blower, so that is obviously the wire that supplies the final voltage to the fan. I'm assuming the other wire that runs to the relay comes from the fan speed switch, and is what controls the fan coming on and the speed.
I'm not getting any power to the relay from that orange wire. The speed select is just that, to adjust speed, so when I move the lever from Off to Heat, something needs to trigger the power to feed to the switch and on to the relay. Where is that switch? On top of the control panel. Does this same switch activate the fan for both heat and A/C?
I'm not interested in the A/C operation, as I've converted the firewall hardware to an A/C Delete assembly, so I'll only have heat.

Found it... one of the two spade connectors were not plugged in. Lots of fun to get up in there. Had to take the seat out to get under there... and I still think I heard my spine pop two or three times. And I had to use my "cheaters" so I could focus on what I was seeing.
Damn... not like the old days...

Ok... the questions continue. The switch is activated by a pair of contacts that engage when you move the top lever to heat or defrost, or the bottom lever if you wanted to turn on the A/C. Moving the levers causes a "cam" to rotate (which includes some vacuum hose connections to operate vacuum pods on the heater box). This cam is binding somewhat so when I move the levers back to off, the contacts don't immediately disengage. The assist sping has plenty of tension, the "cam" just drags for lack of a better term. I hate to just spraying stuff up there to loosen it up, so I'm not sure the best way to approach this. Anyone else ever had this issue and how did you fix it (and don't just say beat on the dash when you want it to go off... I think the dash is too fragile for that anymore.

My A/C car had a similar problem when I got it. Someone had bypassed the problem by wiring in a toggle switch for the fan.
There is no easy fix. You have the pull the control unit out of the dash...NOT FUN...Mine had gotten loose causing binding. I had to replace the contact assemblies and tighten the pivot posts up...Its a PITA but once done it should be good for years.
If you dont have any spare contact switches they do turn up from time to time on ebay...you can also get a rebuilt control from USA parts supply I believe
