I am planning on bringing my car up to the show. I am just watching the weather. I have to drive about 90 miles to get there. I have been to the show before, nice show. Do they still group 64-67 olds in the same class? that is my only complaint. I usually got beat out by a guy with a couple of very nicely overly restored 67 models. From what I found out he owns a constructions company and has a bunch of oldsmobiles. I spoke with him, nice guy, very friendly and knowledgable about oldsmobiles. I just cant compete with his wallet .

Car shows, from the small town 20 entry show, to the larger Chicago Motorama/chevy vettfest, are usally won by those with the largest check book. Few awards are given for blood, sweat and tears. It`s hard to call this a hobby anymore. Just my nickels worth !!!

Get over the "I want to be judged" syndrome and you'll enjoy this hobby a lot more. 99 times out of 100 you are being judged by someone who knows nothing about these cars and has no idea what is correct or not. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! BRO, agree with you on the " I don`t give a shit attitude" I consider myself a master of it. But you have to agree, that even if your car is not in a judging area, and only displayed for show, the common spectator, like it or not, IS judging your car. Most hobbyists, if they choose to compete, find it hard to compete with a car tilted on a turntable, full mirrored floor, dancing lights, and a mirrored plaque on a tri-pod with a long list of the monkey that did the paint, the interior, the wiring, and on and on. The most the owner did was pay the bills. Cars are judged everywhere, even on sites such as these, how often have you seen remarks of pics on this site where comments are made on the incorrect exhaust, that bracket isn`t correct. Drive your car down the street, park t in your driveway, your being judged. Bottom line, the dollar bill, blood, sweat and tears don`t cut it much anymore. Our attitude toward things reflects our age, some of the younger guys are still trying to impress, gain acceptance

I dont think we have ever went after a member for stuff incorrect or not right. If so it was in jest because a lot of us know each other. Even did a search on the word correct and incorrect. Nothing came up as to what you said. Thats not what this site is about.
I dont judge someone for having another do the work, maybe they love the car as much as us but dont have the skill to wrench on them. Or have the time to wrench on them.
Do you really expect a car to win or whatever at a show, based on the amount of owner labor put into it? And who really cares anyway?

I just don't understand the "trailer Queen" mind set. Sure I don't want to get caught in the rain, if I can help it, but that's simply because I am a lazy bastard who hates cleaning cars, especially black ones. I guess they get their rocks off with the bragging rights and not bangin' the gears. Sorry it's just not my style. It's the guys that drive those exceptionally clean cars to the show then clean them up again, that deserve the credit, not ones that never get their tires dirty. They should be judged in an ANAL class all their own, not by year and model, simply as undriven show pieces. They tend to forget that these were Muscle Cars and meant to be fun to drive. Collectors and the filthy rich have ruined it all. Yenko Chevrolet was about 20 minutes from my house and you all know that a $3600 car is now 6 and 7 figures. Do you think anyone really has fun with them any more like they were intended. I'm just thankful that I got to spend my teenage years racing these babies instead of knit picking if that bolt head or hose clamp is correct.

I thought about it and decided the answer I would have to give would be too much work and wasn't worth the time, in the end some of what everybody has said is true and not true, it all has to go with what your perspective is and it probably is different that mine. We could go back and forth on this subject forever and not have mutual agreement and honestly I think I'll stay on the sidelines and watch everybody else duke it out for a change.

Never said, or implied, remarks were made pertaining to other MEMBERS rides. The remarks I do remember, were of vehicles on eBay, or craigslist etc. I understand if it were to be done here, it would be tongue in cheek. My point on this subject was, build what you want, the way you want, these cars were never produced to sit under glass, ride Through the country on a trailer,or be washed and waxed below the rockers. NOW Bubba, sometimes you gotta whip it out and hope nobody chops it off !!

Wouldn't matter if somebody chops it off, I don't need it. And besides, that never stopped me before, oh well. I also agree that you didn't go after anybody imparticular on the site, well that's the opinion I got, anyways, Glenn must be feeling anxiety, guilt, or something cause he fessed up awful quick.

So, getting back to the original point. Is anyone else going to the show?
BRO, I read your 10:55 am reply, I agree, I drive my car to all my shows, I drive it to work occasionally. It is not perfect, but it goes down the road, Better yet today I roasted my little Redline polyglass tires for a 7 year old kid at the local gas station. He was jumping up and down and his dad just smiled and shook his head. Better than any trophy. Might even do the same at the show if the opportunity arises.
To add some background to my earlier comments. I mainly dont like being compared to a 66-67 body style. Nothing wrong with it, I just prefer 64-65 body style. That was something I left out of my first reply. I know it would mean an added expense for trophys and such for the hosting club, and that was the reason given when I asked. Not much I can do about it though, so I usually do go to this show. This year I need parts for my Vert project, so I am going.
