One of the members has a jetaway for sale, I`m interested, BUT !! After a lot of reading on several sites, and a few phone calls to area rebuilders, I`m more confused now than when I started. Seems like most of the web sites and chat rooms that came up on the searches I did contradict each other. The repair shops say theres not much if anything available for these transmissions. The reply I got from all shops I called was to switch it over to somethingyou can getparts for. Does anyone know of someone that actually rebuilt one of these transmissions, and understands how they work.

From what I understand the jetaway was a well built transmission, I would bet parts (rebuild kits) and such are available. I found a couple of places in under a few minutes. Here is one with rebuild kits available. www.autotran.us/jhmparts1.html

I think that trans builders today just want to work on the newer transmissions to make more money. The Jetaway and the Powerglide have been around forever and are fairly simple compared to the newer trans'.
The Jetaway, especially the switch pitch version is a darn good trans. Heck, there were many a racer back in the day that used Powerglides. There may even be a few that still do. And parts are still available as Bubbas already mention and there are other suppliers as well.

I see a lot of dude's on pinks running powerglides. If it came with a jetaway and you want to keep it original I wouldn't shy away from using one.
