What is the best way to remove the pulley from the Power Steering Pump? It's difficult to find a way to hold the pulley tight enough to losen the nut.

First try to spray some liquid wrench, or something like it, on the shaft from the front and back. If you still have the belt on, you can try pushing down on the belt to increase the tension while you try to break the nut loose. You could try using a "C" vise grip toward the center of the pulley to hold it-just be careful not to distort the pulley. Also, if you have some help, get good tension on the pulley then use a box end wrench and smack the end with a hammer. Sometimes the extra shock oc the hammer blow will do the trick.

The Pump is off the car, I should have mentioned that.

I'm guessing the obvious answer of using an impact wrench isn't an option...

Believe it or not the impact wrench is the easiest....... Just "shock it" with the impact----always worked for me. If you want to use hand tools, grip the pulley with a rag ( or better yet one of those rubber rags the ladies use in the kitchen to open a tight jar) and with a 1/2 " drive ratchet loosen the nut.
