Allright, I give up!! How in the holy $#@!! do you get the friggin headlight knob off so you can remove the switch without breaking it . I've got the dash plate out, there appears to be a spring loaded catch in the back that you push then pull the knob off. Maybe more elbow grease but don't want to break it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's the guy, sometimes you have to play with it. Hold the button down push and pull, they can be bastards when they want to be.

It should have come out ok if you were holding the spring loaded pin down as you pulled the knob and shaft out. If you need one, let me know as I have a couple of them. I'll have to check them to make sure they work.

Broke the shaft off right by the knob

Just remember to pull the knob out all the way......then push the spring button down and continue pulling, it should come right out. Contrary to Jeffy, I've never had one that was a pain in the ass.

Thanks BR[], well after breaking two headlight switches this stubborn idiot finally figured out what the he!! BR[] and Jeff were trying to say . So that no one else makes this mistake it's really easy once you figure it out. As BR[] said, pull the knob all the way out (as far as it goes) depress the spring on the top right hand side. It releases the shaft from inside the housing. Most times you need to turn it slightly while holding the spring down. It will pop right out. When putting it back in, push the spring down again to hold the internal switch in place and open up the catch, rotate the rod slightly and it's back in. THE MISTAKE I MADE IS I THOUGHT THE FRIGGIN KNOB CAME OFF THE SHAFT AND TRIED TO PULL IT OFF!! That's NOT what comes out, the entire rod does. It's easy once ya do it right. Thanks guys
