Hello Guys, Want to put together my 400 . I should have the crank balanced . right? I was told I need a flywheel to do this. If so, will the one on my 330 work? (Still in the car) Size , bolt pattern etc. what is correct? Also, I need to have a hole cut for pilot bearing . Anything I need to know in particular about that? Thanks for the help. Patrick

I'm surprised no one has answered this one yet. My two cents worth is that you need the correct fly wheel for the motor to balance correctly. I would not take a chance with the 330 one. Peace of mind really.

I agree with Mr 66, except I'll add in the front damper also. Use the stuff you will be using on the car.

To do this job 100% correctly, the machine shop needs the entire rotating assembly--- crank, rods. pistons (should have rings also), balancer, and flywheel. All the pistons must weigh the same as do the rods. Without doing EVERYTHING you might as well do nothing. The crank should be MACHINED not just DRILLED for the pilot bearing. There are kits available to eliminate the need for this machining but this requires cutting the front of the input shaft of your manual trans. Do yourself a favor and get a new flywheel---I found a brand new 30lb. S.F.I. rated flywheel for $108.00 including shipping on eBay.

I agree DW, I assumed the machine shop already had all the other items.
