Got my hardtop back from the paint shop and started putting all the side chrome on. Has anyone got an easier way of getting the side chrome-piece right in front of the doors on other than taking the front fenders off?? I really don't want to take those fenders off again but I can't see any other way to get that piece of chrome back on. Thanks for any help.

Sorry my man, the fenders have to come off. I haven't ever found a way around it. You might, might, be able to loosen the top bolts and take the bottom bolts out and work you hand up in there, but i wouldn't chance it. If you do, tape up all the edges all the way around the fender before you do anything.

if you take the inner fenders loose and the bottem bolt loose You can get your hand in there to tighten the moulding up. I just got done doing that lastnight, and then i had to readjust the door chrome up. O taping the rocker and door off is.... a good idea

Thanks for the help guys. I was able to get those pieces installed without taking the fender clear off. I taped off the door real good, then took all four bolts from fender to body out along with the bottom two inner fender bolts(the hood and rad support were there yet). Then squeezed my hand and a small socket into the space and tighten them up. A little hassle but nothing like taking them clear off.

WOW! Excellent news. I almost did the same thing but thought of it at the last minute. Good work Gary.

Good to know. I need to change the chrome fender trim so I will give it a try.
