Anyone with a parts car or a project thats all apart ever run into VINs stamped on the body? I know other GM cars, Camaros, have a VIN stamped under the heater box cover on the firewall. According to this in the Cutlass assembly manual Olds did this to their 65s. Anyone care to go snooping and find some of these VINs?

Yes I've looked and looked and looked. I polished the firewall behind the heater box, inside and out to perfection and found ....... ZILCH There is a pic on my tranny page of the vin stamped into the case.

I found a stamped number on the inside edge of the driver's side frame rail when I replaced my trunk floor...

I posted some mystery numbers on this forum once. It was on the 66 I'm restoring. Lower driver side rocker on the inside in two locations about a foot or two apart. The mystery was the fact that it didn't match a dam thing.
