hello, i need to replace the trans mount.(th400/455) ....anyway to get it out without removing the cross member??
Exhaust installed and car on jack stands.
And my other question is about the mounts itself, everyone hear about that the poly mounts are higher than rubbers.
thanks from germany denis

I think you should be able to change without too much trouble. Remove bolts from mount to crossmember and "gently" jack up trans.--there should be enough room to remove bolts from mount to trans.-- then change mount and re-install all hardware. If your motor mounts are rubber, you probably should use a rubber trans. mount. If using poly motor mounts use poly trans. mount. Jack trans. slowly watching everything including shifter inside the car--trans. will probably "bottom out" against floor, but this should work. Might want to keep an eye on your motor mounts during this--if they are poly may loosen the long bolts are little. Good luck.

denis... I tried putting a poly mount on my 4 speed. I was able to install it but it raised it to high. the front u-joint hit the trans tunnel when I rotated the driveshaft. Replaced it with a rubber mount.
