Guys:
There is a member of the Olds Google group that has a club member in AZ looking for a full set of the upper body molding, the thin strip that runs front to back for a 65 442 he is working on. If anybody has a spare set (ha!) I can relay the info to him.
Thanks,

That's the "H" chrome Mike (4HV). I had a great set, but have already sold it. If you can find it in good condition, it's going to be very pricey. I got $750, just for reference.

Thanks for the price reference because the guy asking is a bit old school and is the type that thinks almost everything is overpriced these days. Full sets are rare, you can build sets from pieces here and there, but they are getting harder to come by. On a related matter, has anyone ever added this chrome to a 65 that didn't come with it originally?

Nope on adding the H chrome, in fact if either of mine had it I'd take it off, but that's all up to your personal taste.

I have a great 442 4 speed Holiday coupe body with all the posts intact for the H chrome if anyones looking. I agree with Saquatch....... That's why I sold the chrome that was on it. I do have a set of the extremely rare rocker panel chrome (aluminum) if any one is looking.

I do have a set of the extremely rare rocker panel chrome (aluminum) if any one is looking. That's the great thing about personal taste, they are all different. My first 65 has the "H" chrome and I think it looks great, especially on a car that has had all the chrome redone, very classy. I’m seriously considering adding it to my 442 vert when I repaint the car someday. I think the “H” chrome looks especially good on a vert body. Besides, one of the reasons I prefer 65's is that they have the most chrome. Lots of chrome and big V8's is what I like! But again, it’s all in personal taste. ;D Finding the right clips are not a problem, there are several places that carry them. And since the same size molding was used on just about every GM from probably 1960 to 1973 they will be available forever. There is nothing special about the clips, the majority of them are the small ½" push on plastic retainers. The end pieces with the studs are also very common and available as well. The hard part would be getting the measurements correct and lining up all the studs. A stud welder would make it a lot easier, however, the replacement screw in type of studs will work. But it would be a fair amount of work screwing in all those studs. Thanks,

If any one wants some measurements I have this option on my car. Also, I think these are made out of stainless steel because, they are not pitted like the rest of my chrome and are a pretty thin gauge. I used a polishing wheel and the came out looking pretty nice.

If someone has a for sure part number and vendor I would appreciate it. I will be putting this trim back on my car and had a bag of clips that I have since lost. I would like to buy the right clip the first time.

I'm sure others have different preference, but I have always used Restoration Specialties; www.restorationspecialties.com/ If you look at the catalog (.pdf download) on page #123 - part #2517 10-24 x 1/2" these are for the ends that bolt on, and for the plastic push on; page #153 - #11288 This is what I have used for my Cutlass vert with the "H" molding. RAM Z - take a look on page #122 - part #2146J GM Trim Panel Plug for Door Panel — Looks like the door panel female plugs you were looking for.
